Info On The Metro Subway System In Panama People Ought To Know

The metro subway system in Panama has been the talk of the town for quite sometime since its start. The government has invested a lot of money in the project that is set to improve infrastructure in terms of quality. Locals have welcomed the project and are looking forward to its completion with excitement.

Media is also putting all its effort in looking into the process of the construction in various aspects. International media sections are also looking into the project to ensure that all is well. All those involved in making the process a success are keen to ensure the media does not send a bad message out there.

The subway that has attracted the attention of almost everyone in the nation stretches for 14 kilometers. It covers the interior route of the city that has got a high level of traffic. It will thus reduce congestion by a big margin thus making transport very efficient in the long run.

The route begins from the southern terminus at Albrook and goes up north to the Los Andes that is near Corridor Norte. It covers 16 stations a long its stretch and is focused upon the working class that requires a faster way to travel. The intended result of this is a reliable transport option for the people.

Strategic plans associated with the project ensure that the result of running of this subway is an elevation of the economy in the long run. Many expect investment to improve with an influx of business people and other parties. It may be the case should all go as well as planned at the start of this project.

In every national project, there has to be politics, at least in huge ones as the example of this metro subway. Ricardo Martinelli is said to be very keen on how the project goes and the general response of people. He wants all to go well throughout to the finish for good politics according to many.

Critics have it that it is a score card for the current government as the next elections near in 2014. In fact, the project is to be finished by the end of 2013, something many see as an orchestrated strategy to win the trust of individuals. It is politics though, and criticism is a major game and anything can be said.

For a good number of citizens, the finishing of this project is what matters most in the end. They cannot wait to start using the routes and enjoy everything they can about it. To them, the start of operation of this system is what matters a lot and they are crossing their fingers waiting for the days it will come to be.

There are scores of other people who are keen on the history of the country. They fear for the historic sites that lie on the way of the metro subway system in Panama. The state will have to ensure that no one is hurt by the construction of this system and thus a careful plan has got to be made in this regard. This is very important.

Panama To Develop New Metro Subway System For 2014

People from three outlying areas all try to enter Panama city center every weekday morning between 6 and 8 o’clock in the morning. Rapid population growth, high emissions from bus pollution and a lack of alternatives to private automobiles all point to an urgent need for an efficient public transportation system in Panama. Construction has begun on Metro Line One of Panama, the first subway to be built in Central America. It is due for completion in 2013 and it is planned to be open in 2014. Feasibility studies are under way for a second line.

Metro Line One will be open from early in the morning until midnight, seven days a week. It will be able to carry 40,000 passengers an hour. It will be roughly 14 km in length. Five of its eleven stations will be elevated. These will run between the southern terminus at Los Andes and a station at 12 de Octobre. Five other stations will be located underground and the eleventh will be a combination of the two.

The subway line essentially divides the city in half and run north to south from Allbrook to Los Andes. A proposed ‘government city’ may be erected near Curundu, one of the northernmost stops on the line. A journey along the entire length of the line is expected to take a maximum of 23 minutes. A company based in France will manufacture the rolling stock.

The actual railway line from which the track will be constructed has been successfully employed in Barcelona, Santo Domingo and other parts of the world. Stations will be unique in style and are planned to make extensive use of natural light. The trains will operate efficiently and make the most use of energy. The insides of the carriages are being designed to provide the passenger with a ride that is both safe and comfortable. Facilities are being planned for passengers with limited mobility.

The Metro subway will complement the Metrobus project which is already underway. It is hoped that the new buses will replace the iconic but overcrowded, dingy and aging private Red Devil bus line. The Red Devils appear to have been American school buses in a previous incarnation. They are iconic because of their cheeky graffitti style livery.

The new line will provide direct benefit to those commuters who currently suffer congestion and long journey times to and from work. Indirectly, everyone residing in the metropolitan area will benefit from improved traffic flow. A road realignment program will complement construction of the metro system.

Temporary road closures of Via Simon Bolivar and road 12 di Diciembre were announced in June 2011 to allow installation of new water pipes in preparation for the new subway. For a while, only residents, shopkeepers and pedestrians will have access to the area. Work began in May 2011 on the Northern Trench of the Metro Line.

The northern terminus of Line One, around 1.5 km west of the city center, will be at Allbrook, near to Allbrook Marcos A Gelabert International Airport. Its name was changed from Allbrook Air Force Base to its current name in honor of Marcos A Gelabert, who established the first pilot training school in the area, who died tragically in an airplane accident.

Expanding The Panama Canal Will Work

The Panama Canal was built so that the Atlantic and Pacific oceans may be joined. This ship canal had and still has significant value where maritime trade is concerned. This was the major purpose of having it built. Now the canal is being expanded. The project was proposed by the Panama Canal Authority who wish to increase the capacity for cargo ship traffic within the canal.

The project is going by the name of the Third Set of Locks Project. Its purpose is to complete a pair of lock complexes at both the Atlantic and Pacific ends of the canal. The goal of having the locks constructed is to help with water preservation, which has been a concern of the canal’s continued use. A second aim of the project is to build new access channels while widening those already present. Finally the project will increase the depth of the channels both new and old.

This expansion is what is called a mega project. Its impact could and likely will be very widespread and felt by nearby communities. Furthermore it is estimated to cost more than one billion US dollars and will likely get a lot of public attention due to its scale. The impact on the environment will also be something that will be taken into consideration.

Work on the project commenced as of September 2007, with a completion date set sometime in the year 2015. As already mentioned there has been significant publicity and talk as a result, with a fair amount of it being positive. The project does indeed have many potential benefits not only to those who use the canal but to the country of Panama itself. For one, it is anticipated that the project will pay for itself in due time and then begin providing its investors with a substantial rate of return.

Along with its profitability, the canal expansion project is expected to reduce poverty within Panama. This will be a result of the need for labor of all kinds being necessary in order to complete the project. Some have claimed that the reduction will be as high as 30%. Of course it is also believed that improving the channels and traffic capacity of the canal will bring in higher revenues from tolls.

This can also mean an increase in profits for those invested in the industry of trading which involves the canal. As the capacity for cargo ships is increased so should the profit margin for both Panama and those involved in the maritime trade industry. This only leaves the environmental impact as a possible concern for the project.

The Panama Canal Authority has performed studies regarding the environmental impact of its project and claims that no significant damage will be done environmentally. The area in which the work will be done is already owned by the organization and no major community upheaval is necessary for its work to be done. It also states that the lock systems being installed are intended to mitigate the environmental impacts of the increase in usage of the canal.

Again, it is projected that the canal expansion will be finished in 2015. It is the hope of many that this expansion’s completion will mark a time of renewed prosperity in the country of Panama. It will certainly be seen in time whether or not this happens, and many will be watching closely in the meantime.

The Return of the Sun Kissed Expat

When I first visited the island of Tenerife in the beginning of the 80′s, it was undeniably Spanish. People talked in Spanish, the food was quite different from the stuff offered back in England, the majority dwelling over there were- well they were Spanish. Go forward a several years and just what do we see?

Some Spanish scenes from the Eze Group

Specified smallish towns contain a absolutely cosmopolitan feel to them, with no real prominence obtained ; the Danish man living next to a Berliner, who may have an Icelander on the other side – is a very common type of circumstance. Several, normally slightly older, much longer populated parts continue to be Spanish speaking, however, some villages are really English and I mean quite English. English shops, English language cafes (sometimes including full Brit public house together with pool table and carpeting), English only dining establishments usually showing chalk boards with complete English breakfast dished up all day’ chalked up for their non-native patrons.

We English began arriving smallish amounts from the 70′s growing on a yearly basis till this particular trend of Brit immigration started to retreat with the financial turmoil from the last few years. Numerous factors blended to generate this specific migration (most of the time peaceful); low-priced wines, substantial retirement benefits, year round sun, high property pricing at home as well as a sensation within many Brits that things in the Uk were not as they were once. These feelings of a land transforming for the worse is actually a European wide experience however no place felt as profoundly as in England.

Hamlet after hamlet packed with Brits and residing as only we English can do ; without having respect to the life-style or environment about us. So how everything has altered presently, the formerly missing sounds of Spanish is coming back, the deep fried morning meal as well as pint of lager are now rare, a bizarre situation is occurring. The Britons are melting away; not completely but some resort communities, previously full with Britons, are either empty or more Spanish speaking compared to what they were even a year or two ago.

Just as a mix of causes triggered their appearance, an unusual mix is mainly responsible for their departure. The cost of living has shot up, the Euro can make items a lot more costly and the drop in house prices back home has made the thought of running a Spanish house, once within the reach of many, these days a far off aspiration.

Even so there is a cause for the return of those, not too homesick Britons; an underlying cause over and above that of simply funding. Basically said some people as a result of a number of years of being abroad have come to understand that things may be far from ideal right here, and they’ve simply arrived back home to be around whatever they know best.

Come visit the gorgeous tropical island of Tenerife and permit the Eze Group to be your guide.

Cell Phones Embrace GPS Technology

The popularity of GPS technology has increased in the last year which could be down to the cell phone market wanting to involve it within their latest phones. This was not the reason for the original invention although it has been a successful way of making it available to the masses.

The military were responsible for making the hi-tech positioning system. It was designed to help them know where they were and where their men and women were anywhere on the globe at any given time. It took a lot of financial resources to create the amazing technology which is in full use today.

Over the years the system has been greatly improved with the receivers being extremely small and able to be placed in a variety of hand held objects. The popular Sat Navs were one of the first successful methods where the public could make good use of the system. Drivers are able to know exactly where they are and are given precise directions on how to get to their desired location by using these excellent gadgets.

Smartphones have now begun to really support the global positioning systems by having the chip installed into the handsets. It is a good selling point and is allowing more people to make use of this amazing equipment.

The phones allow you to find out your position and study detailed maps to help you find where you are going. They have been popular with the latest devices which support multiple application usage.

It is possible to tag your position on social networking sites using this technology, and share with all of your friends who might be interested in your location. More adventurous apps are using the technology to create games. You allow other users to know where you are and you can track each other to score points.

Singles are able to find out if there are eligible singles in the same area when signed up to a dating service which also make use of the remarkable system. It has been promoted as a good way of discovering other people who are ready to date and want to meet other singles. There have been some words of precaution when signing up, but these types of games and services are being quite well received.

Younger people are embracing this system as a way to enjoy their phones and have fun with it. The original use of finding your position and getting directions is appreciate by many who find the service extremely valuable.

GPS Technology Some Of The Best Things In Life Are Free

Global positioning system or GPS technology has dramatically improved operations in a large number of industries including agriculture, geodesy, public safety and disaster relief, space and timing. Countless commonplace activities like the construction of skyscrapers and other large structures, mobile telephone operations and even the control of electricity grids are facilitated by precise data provided by the GPS. Farmers, surveyors, geologists, maritime professionals, recreational boaters and many others perform their tasks more efficiently, safely, economically, and accurately using the GPS.

The GPS is a utility owned by the USA government focused on providing positioning, navigation and timing services to civilian as well as government, military and business users free of charge. Anyone with a GPS receiver can receive location and time information from the system. The system consists of three components.

The first component ar the satellites in orbit above the earth. The second compoents are earth-based control stations. Finally, the system involves the GPS receivers owned by users themselves. GPS satellites and control stations are operated and managed by the Air Force of the USA.

The GPS originally started operating with 24 satellites in orbit but now has up to 32 in operation at any one time. The bigger the number of operating satellites the better is the accuracy and reliability of the system. Each satellite is purposefully positioned about 12,000 miles (over 19000 kilometers) above the earth. The satellites remain in a fixed position above earth.

Each GPS satellite moves about the axis of the earth at the same speed as earth itself. When observed from earth, each satellite appears in the exact same location above the earth. At any time, all areas on earth within the targeted 70 degrees of latitude north and south are blanketed by GPS signals transmitted by two or more GPS satellites.

Each satellite transmits radio microwaves one-way down to earth so as to blanket a large portion of its surface. Collectively, the full fleet of satellites ensures blanket coverage from 70 degrees north to south of the equator. Areas from the poles to 70 degrees latitude north and south are not serviced by the GPS system; they rely on a similar system operated by European governments.

The timing information generated by GPS technology is critical because it allows a GPS receiver to calculate its own position based upon the amount of time it took for the signal to travel the 12,000 miles or so from the satellite to the receiver. The accuracy of this timing information is precise to nanoseconds of tolerance.

Save Money On Your Move

Being a OWNER OF A LOCAL MOVING COMPANY for over 30 years I can tell you many ways to save money when moving across town.

They include:

-How to get the best pricing from your mover. -Find the BEST DAYS to schedule for the best pricing. -Find low cost options for moving boxes and packing materials. -Preparation you can do prior to the movers arrival. -Selecting The Moving Company And Getting the Best Rates. -Local moving is usually 100 miles or less, is charged for by the hour, and often completed within the same day.

Finding the lowest price when choosing a mover.

Local moving is usually 100 miles or less, is charged for by the hour, and often completed within the same day. When selecting local movers, research is key. The internet today provides many helpful tools that enable you to find qualified movers very quickly. Various review sites such as the Better Business Bureau and Yelp can help you narrow down your search to a few qualified movers. Movers that belong to the BBB and movers that belong to any state moving associations are good choices. The reason is because member movers value their reputations within these associations. You will rarely find bad movers or rogue movers that are affiliated with consumer or moving associations, because over time they would be exposed.

When contacting a mover for a quote, let them know if you have you have a budget and that you will be getting prices from other movers. If a moving company knows you are calling other companies as well they are more that likely to give you a better price. Have them email you their price proposals and estimates, put in down on paper so you can sit and read it. Make certain the price includes all the items to be moved and if there are any extras they need to be included, such as stairs or long carries. Read each movers price and compare because every mover has different ways of pricing a move.

Work Around Your Movers’ Schedule To Insure The Best Rate.

The day of the week or day of the month you choose to move can often have an impact on your movers rates. High demand days for local movers are normally Fridays and Saturdays. Also, the last few days of each month and the first days of each month tend to be higher demand for movers. Movers have less incentive to give discounts on days where they know they will be busy. On the other hand, if you are able to schedule your move during lesser demand periods, you may be able to negotiate lower rates. Many movers actually give discounts for Mondays to Thursdays, or during the middle of each month.

Low Cost Options For Moving Boxes and Packing Materials

There are a number of options for finding cheap or free boxes. The quickest and cheapest sources for new moving boxes are Home Depot and Lowes. Within the last few years these stores have created small moving centers. Consumers can buy boxes at these locations almost as cheap as movers can buy the same boxes in pallet loads.

Craigslist can be an option if you are looking for inexpensive or even free moving boxes. If you do the research you’ll be amazed at how many places you can find cheap and even free moving supplies. I always like to look at a new neighbors moving in down the street. Don’t be shy, go over there, introduce yourself and offer to take all his material away for free. You’ll find lots of boxes and other packing material that can be reused.

Another source to consider for cheap boxes is the local recycling center. They may sell you a carload or vanload of boxes by weight instead of by the box. And yet another source? When you see the guys driving around in their pickup trucks loaded with cardboard stacked 15 feet high, flag them down and offer to pay them $20 for some boxes. You may get as many as 50-100 boxes for this price, because it’s more than the recycling center will give them.

Being Prepared For The Movers Will Save You Money.

Local movers generally charge by the hour, so anything you can do yourself will save money. This includes tasks such as dismantling and reassembling beds, and taking care of any connections and reconnections of appliances such as washers or dryers or refrigerator icemakers. Also consider packing and moving yourself the small items such as boxes and lamps and stereos and pictures, etc.

A big way to save money is to have the mover move only the large items in your home. This may save a lot of money but will create a lot of work for you. You will have to move stuff like boxes, pictures, and lamps. Anything small you will be responsible to move on your own.

Also consider preparing for the movers by putting all boxes in the garage, and having THEM put all boxes in the garage at your new location. Naturally, some people will need the movers to do the aformentioned work, but these are certainly areas where the consumer can save.

Bad Estimates and Surprise Moving Costs

No one likes to get a moving quote, then be surprised by charges on moving day that are far greater than the estimate. This often happens when the moving company does not have complete information to generate an accurate estimate.

When receiving a moving quote two important details are: A detail list of things to be moved, and the location – letting movers know important details at origin and destination. Are there stairs, or long carries? Is this an apartment, if so is there an elevator involved?

If your move is small you can often get your quote by phone or email. Be absolutely certain to give the mover a complete and thorough list of items to be moved. Give it to them in writing, preferably by email. Don’t be vague by saying only “contents of 1 bedroom apartment”. Be specific with a list of items within the apartment, including small items such as lamps, pictures, boxes, etc.. This will minimize the chance of unpleasant additional costs on moving day.

If your move is larger, say a 2 bedroom home or larger, request the mover come out and do a visual survey, then mail or email the quote to you. Of utmost importance is that the moving quote include a list of items to be moved, as this is the primary basis for the move cost. Insist they give you a copy of their shipper / mover pre move inventory of items to be moved.

These are just a few areas where you can save when doing a local move. But with proper planning and preparation and a willingness to do some of the work yourself, your savings can be significant.

It is important that when hiring local movers that you research and investigate whether they are the right movers for you. If you need movers in Los Angeles be sure to choose the right one because there are a lot to pick from.
